1 cymbal line in the top 12 (SCV). Scouts & Spirit, no cymbal line.
Question --- Are we witnessing the extinction of marching cymbal lines in junior drum & bugle corps? Will this trend reverse? Is it cyclical? Will senior/all-ages drum & bugle corps follow suit (as they tend to over time)?
What a bummer....

Re: Death of the Cymbal Line
Tue, September 13, 2005 - 11:36 AMNo. That's all last year's info. I know they are changing all that stuff but I'm not involved in that aspect. I know they are going to go over joining at the open house.

Re: Death of the Cymbal Line
Thu, September 15, 2005 - 5:27 PMNo, alas, we are going to be an alumni corps. But it is going to be epic. Calvin, we are always looking for good people for the pit. Scott Kubitz is in... ever wanted to be a Kingsmen?
I do want to get a Sr. Corps going down here though - something that would be a serious contender to those wise asses back east.
And yes Damien, you have to pay to play. -

Re: Death of the Cymbal Line
Mon, September 19, 2005 - 7:48 AMThe band sounds great. With 21 years of drumming experience I probably would not pay to play. All the effort getting there on time and playing in the band seems like enough to me, without having to pay. In my high school they couldn't even afford uniforms for us, so I know how it goes to be in a band with no money. -

Re: Death of the Cymbal Line
Wed, September 21, 2005 - 6:51 PMOkay.....they aren't a band. This is an odd point for you, I am sure and don't get me wrong, but they are not a band. They are a Drum and Bugle Corps. They are what bands dream of being. There is a huge difference.

Re: Death of the Cymbal Line
Tue, October 25, 2005 - 5:02 PMYou know, I think the main problem with actually marching tymps is finding tymps to march? They just don't make 'em any more. They were talking about marching them on to the field and than pitting them up. Speaking of pit, you wanna be in the pit? -

Wed, October 26, 2005 - 5:05 PMScott Kubitz will be there, your guard captain, Debra, will be there....Calvin, it's gonna rock. You can be my invited guest.
The details are very simple, you sign up, you follow directions, you get to play in front of thousands of people who have been thirsting to see the Anaheim Kingsmen for decades wet themselves. I'll PM you more info....
